The Basics

Salon nails,
without the salon.

Press-on nails are ready-made nails you apply yourself at home - no appointment, no UV lamp, no drilling. Ours are hand-painted in small batches in the UK, sized to fit properly, and built to last a fortnight.

What They Are

So what actually is a press-on?

A press-on nail is a pre-shaped, pre-painted nail that sits on top of your natural nail, held in place with either an adhesive tab or nail glue.

The idea isn't new - press-ons have been around since the Seventies. What's changed is the quality. Modern press-ons are made from flexible, salon-grade material and hand-finished with the same gels and pigments a nail technician would use. The result looks and feels like a professional manicure, because in every way that matters it is one. It just wasn't applied in a salon chair.

Every Neko Nails set arrives ready to wear: 10 nails, plus adhesive tabs, a mini file and a cuticle stick. You pick your sizes, press them on, and you're done in about ten minutes.

Why Press-Ons

Why people are switching.

Kinder to your nails

No UV lamp. No drilling. No acetone soak-off. Your natural nail is never filed down, so it keeps growing underneath exactly as it should. If you've had gel or acrylic before, this is usually the biggest difference people notice.

Ten minutes, not two hours

A gel appointment means booking ahead, travelling, and sitting still for an hour or two. A press-on set goes on while you're watching something on the sofa. No diary juggling, no waiting for a slot.

Costs less than one salon visit

A gel manicure in the UK typically runs £25-35 and lasts two to three weeks. One of our sets costs about the same, lasts as long - and can be reused up to four times if you take them off carefully. Over a year, the difference adds up.

Change your mind whenever

Bored after five days? Take them off. Wedding on Saturday and a job interview on Monday? Wear one set for each. Press-ons aren't a commitment - they're an outfit choice.

Honest Answers

The things people actually ask.

Not if they're prepped properly. Most press-ons that pop off early do so because the nail surface still had oil or shine on it. Buff lightly, wipe with the alcohol pad, let it dry fully — that's ninety percent of the battle. Glue holds longer than adhesive tabs if you want maximum staying power.

Sizing is what gives cheap press-ons away. A nail that's too wide leaves a visible gap at the sides and sits oddly. That's why every set comes in 12 sizes rather than one-size-fits-all, and why we offer custom sizing if none of the standard sizes fit you well. Fitted correctly, most people can't tell.

Yes. Washing up, typing, hair-washing, the gym — all fine once they've had two hours to set. Very long lengths take a day to get used to, which is why we suggest starting with short or medium if it's your first set.

Take the 60-second Fit Quiz before ordering and we'll match you to the right size. If your nail beds are unusual — very narrow, very wide, or quite curved — order Custom Size and send us your measurements. We'll make the set to your hands.

No. Soak your hands in warm soapy water for about ten minutes, then gently lift from the side with the cuticle stick. If there's resistance, soak longer. Never force or peel them off dry — that's the one thing that can damage your natural nail.

Good to Know

Press-ons are especially good if…

A great fit for you
  • You want nails for a specific occasion — a wedding, a holiday, a party — without committing for a month
  • Your natural nails are recovering from gel or acrylic and need a break
  • You can't easily get to a salon, or appointments don't fit around your schedule
  • You like changing your nails often and don't want to pay salon prices each time
  • You want a design a salon can't easily do — anime characters, specific charms, a reference photo
  • You're on a budget but don't want it to look like you are
Maybe not if
  • You need nails for heavy manual work
  • You want something that stays put for over a month without any attention
  • You'd rather someone else did it for you entirely
